Here are some handy tips to help make your fundraiser the best it can be.
We're here to make it easy!
Whether this is your first time fundraising, or you’re a regular, it can be helpful to follow a plan. We are here to help you on your fundraising journey.
1. Decide what you want to do.
Check out our fundraising pages above: Something active, something for yourself, something for a group and something different.
2. Register to create a personal/group fundraising page.
Once you’ve got an idea, go for it! Create your fundraiser by clicking the ‘Sign up now’ or 'Get started' button in the pages above.
3. Set ambitious yet attainable goals.
Once you start asking for support, you’ll be amazed at how generous people can be and the impact you can have. The funds you raise directly impact veterans in need.
4. Things to remember.
If you’re running an event there are many things to consider, including location but also weather, parking, permits, catering and any equipment you may need.
Check out our fundraising guidelines for further information. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s right for you.
You’ve registered your fundraiser, so what now?
It’s now time to get the word out - invite people to attend your event, join in or simply support you by donating.
1. Log into your fundraising dashboard.
Update your personal page so that others know what you’re doing and why you’re raising funds. Check out our free resources for guidance, including our fundraising guide, posters and social tiles.
2. Show you're serious by making the first donation.
If you make a donation to your page it will encourage friends and family to also support your efforts.
3. Promote within your networks.
Promoting both online and in person is important. Talk to people about what you are doing to get them on board with the cause. Be proud to be a member of the Fundraising Force!
4. Limit your costs.
Asking for support for venues, prizes or services will help you keep your event costs low. You’ll be amazed at how much people and business are willing to help if you ask.
5. Bank your fundraising money as you go and watch your impact grow.
Bank each donation as it comes in and use the total to inspire others to donate. Ie, “We’ve hit 50% of our goal – help us reach 100%”.
Congratulations! Your fundraiser is complete.
Firstly, we think you are amazing! Thank you for raising funds for us. To wrap up your fundraiser, remember to:
1. Thank, thank and thank your supporters.
Why not thank your donors by sending them an email directly from your fundraising dashboard?
2. Bank your funds so we can start helping veterans.
If you have any questions about banking your funds, please contact our dedicated support team on 1300 4 MATES. We are here to help.

Support before it’s too late
Service-related injuries aren’t always visible. Our veterans can be impacted mentally by their service, with self-reported levels of psychological distress three times higher in veterans, compared to the Australian community. That’s why each year, we provide 4,400 psychology appointments to our Mates, along with evidence-based therapies and support programs tailored to individuals, couples or family members in need of support.
